Master's Thesis Guidelines

First steps

• Find your topic
• Find your supervisors
• 88 ECTS: You are eligible to start your MA thesis -> at least 6 credits in the category research colloquia and all the credits in the basic and advanced subjects

You may start with your thesis even if the grades of the necessary credits are not yet registered. Please get in touch with Benita.

Thesis proposal

• Length: 2 - 5 pages
• Indicate the research question and its relevance
• Mention the relevant scientific literature
• Indicate the main and co-supervisor (if available)

Registration with myStudies

• Register for your thesis in the tab “Projects/Papers/Thesis"
• Upload proposal
  
• Registration co-supervisor: you may wait with this decision up until 4 weeks after the registration. Please add your name in myStudies in the meantime in order to finalize the registration.
• As soon as the main supervisor and the study office confirm the registration, the registration is considered final.

Duration

The thesis must be submitted within 6 months after the registration. The submission date will be shown in myStudies. 

Length

The work must be at least 150,000 characters or 50 pages and should be a maximum of 300,000 characters or 100 pages. Excess lengths must be agreed with the supervisor at work.

Submission

The thesis may be submitted either in hard copy or electronically, to be discussed with your supervisors. Either way, send a PDF to the coordinator of studies. Please include the Download declaration of originality (PDF, 160 KB)  

Completion of studies

To complete your studies, a diploma request must be generated in myStudies. The original diploma will sent to the registered postal address. Please check before requesting the diploma.
